Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Urges Business Actors Not To Be Hatiful To Worker Rights

JAKARTA - Director General of Human Rights (HAM) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Dhana Putra appealed to business actors not to ignore the rights of their workers.

"We remind business actors not to ignore workers' rights, especially female workers. There are many workers' rights that must be respected," said Dhana Putra during the socialization of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 60 of 2023 concerning the National Strategy for Business and Human Rights in Banda Aceh City, Aceh, Tuesday, October 3, confiscated by Antara.

Dhana said Presidential Decree No. 60 of 2023 was only issued at the end of September 2023. Aceh was the first province to socialize the regulation.

According to him, the Presidential Decree was issued to give birth to the national strategy of business and human rights. This strategy is to protect the rights of citizens, especially workers. The Presidential Regulation was issued because previously there was no regulation governing the national strategy of business and human rights.

"In this presidential regulation, business actors are not solely seeking profit or profit, but also how they protect their workers, both wages and other rights, such as pregnancy for female workers," explained Dhana.

In this socialization, a number of national strategies for business and human rights are also explained, including increasing understanding, capacity, as well as promotion of business and human rights for all stakeholders.

"As well as the development of regulations, policies, and guidelines that support the protection and respect for human rights; as well as strengthening the effective recovery mechanism for victims of human rights violations in the practice of business activities," said Dhana.

Meanwhile, the Daily Executive (Plh) Head of the Aceh Province Kemenkumham Regional Office Lilik Sujandi said the socialization of Presidential Decree No. 60 of 2023 was to encourage stakeholders in Aceh in implementing the national strategy of business and human rights.

"From this socialization, it is hoped that a joint commitment will be born to implement the presidential regulation regarding the national strategy of business and human rights in Aceh Province," said Lilik Sujandi.
