Worried That The Landslide Material Will Close The Road Agency, The Police Will Temporarily Close The Mount Geurutee Aceh Jaya Traffic

ACEH - The Traffic Directorate of the Aceh Regional Police said traffic on the Gunung Geurutee state road, Aceh Jaya Regency, was temporarily closed for handling landslide material on October 4, 2023.The Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the Aceh Police, Kombes Muhammad Iqbal Alqudusy, said that if the landslide material was not handled, it was feared that it would close the road, thus deciding to access motorized vehicles to the southern western region of Aceh Province."The handling of landslide material at kilometer 64+025 will be carried out by the National Road Implementation Center. With this handling, the traffic on the Mount Geurutee route will be temporarily closed on October 4, 2023," said Iqbal in Banda Aceh, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 3.The middle officer of the Aceh Police said the handling of landslide materials started at 09.00 WIB to 12.00 WIB. The traffic flow from the direction of Meulaboh and Banda Aceh will be stopped until the handling is complete.For the stopping area from the direction of Meulaboh, said Muhammad Iqbal, it was prepared at the Lamno gas station, Aceh Jaya Regency. Meanwhile, from the direction of Banda Aceh, the stop was carried out at the foot of Mount Geurutee, in Pasie Village, Aceh Besar District."We appeal to road users not to cross the route during the handling of landslides on Mount Geurutee. We also apologize for the public's inconvenience due to the temporary closure," he said.Previously, a joint team from the Traffic Directorate of the Aceh Police and the National Road Implementation Center reviewed the landslide location at kilometer 64 Banda Aceh-Calang.From observations, the boulder on the mountain moved because of the rain. It is feared that the moving rock will collapse into the road, so that it can endanger road users.
"It is feared that high rainfall will accelerate the landslide of boulders onto the road. If this happens, it will close traffic access from both directions," said Muhammad Iqbal Alqudusy.
