Gerindra Hopes PSI Will Immediately Formalize Its Support For Prabowo After Kaesang Becomes Chairman

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party has positively welcomed the appointment of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep as general chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). Gerindra hopes that PSI will immediately formalize its support for the presidential candidate of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Prabowo Subianto.

"We congratulate Mr. Kaesang on joining PSI and becoming chairman," said Deputy General Chair Gerindra Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 26.

Habiburokhman assessed that Prabowo would definitely welcome young people like Kaesang who want to enter politics. According to him, political channels are a way to do good.

"In principle, Mr. Prabowo is happy if there are young people with achievements who want to become politicians, want to become political fighters. Because being a politician means he has idealism, he has aspirations to do good things for the benefit of society at large and he is willing to sacrifice his time, power, and wealth for a lot of people. So it's good if there are young people who want to become politicians like Mr. Kaesang," he said.

Because of this, the deputy chairman of Commission III of the DPR hopes that Kaesang will be in the same line to support Prabowo to become the Indonesian presidential candidate.

"Mr. Kaesang is close to Mr. Prabowo, we know that, Mr. Kaesang even has a t-shirt with a picture of Mr. Prabowo and has worn it several times," he said.

"We hope that by joining Mr. Kaesang at PSI, who knows, we can bring PSI concretely and officially support Mr. Prabowo as the 2024 presidential candidate," continued Habiburokhman.
