Regarding The Ban On TikTok Shop Selling, Trade Minister Zulhas: It's Been Agreed, Tomorrow Sign
JAKARTA - The government will ban social commerce, such as TikTok Shop selling.
The prohibition will be contained in the revision of the regulation of the Minister of Trade (Pemgang) Number 50 of 2020 which will be signed tomorrow.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Trade (Medag) Zulkifli Hasan after a limited meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, September 25.
"It has been approved, tomorrow, home, we will sign the revision of Permendang Number 50 of 2020. This has been discussed for months with Pak Teten," he said.
Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's nickname, said that the social commerce ban on selling is because if social commerce and e-commerce are combined, it will greatly benefit the platform.
The reason is, the platform has a user algorithm that can be used to organize advertisements for the person concerned.
Therefore, Zulhas said, in the revision of Permendag Number 50 of 2020, it will regulate that this platform can only promote goods or services without opening transaction facilities.
First, social commerce can only facilitate the promotion of goods or services. Promotion of goods and services. No direct transactions, direct payments, no more," he explained.
Zulhas analogized social commerce platforms such as only television, which can be used to promote goods or services, but cannot be used for transactions.
"He can only be promoted like TV. Tv is okay. But TV can't accept money, right. So he's kind of a digital platform. So his job is to promote," he explained.
