Voxpol Survey: 40.8 Percent of Voters Want Presidential Candidates to Continue and Improve Government Programs
JAKARTA - Voxpol Center Research and Consulting announced the results of the latest survey regarding voter preferences in the 2024 presidential election. It turns out that many respondents want to choose a presidential candidate (capres) who will continue and improve President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) government programs.
"The latest data from the Voxpol Center shows an interesting picture of voter preferences in the 2024 presidential election. As many as 40.8 percent of respondents expressed their desire to elect a presidential candidate who will continue and improve the current government program," said Executive Director of the Voxpol Center Research and Consulting Pangi Syarwi Chaniago in his written statement received by VOI, Saturday, September 23.
Furthermore, Pangi revealed that 27.8 percent of respondents wanted major changes in government programs and 19.2 percent supported presidential candidates who would continue government programs.
"The results of this survey illustrate that there is potential for considerable voter support for the ideas of change and sustainability," he said.
Pangi then said that candidates who want to continue but also improve the current government program have the possibility of winning the 2024 presidential election. The figure he highlighted was former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
According to him, Anies had an interesting view about change when he attended an event at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta some time ago.
"The approach taken by Anies Baswedan and his coalition by bringing forward the idea of change that does not damage previous policies and at the same time offers innovation and justice in every policy seems to be a wise strategic step," explained Pangi.
The idea offered by the presidential candidate from the Coalition for Change is also considered a realistic political choice. So, Pangi believes, the 2024 presidential election will be even more interesting because the theme of sustainable change and innovation is one of the themes that is attracting public attention.
"This approach tries to be an answer for voters who want planned and not haphazard change while also maintaining the hopes of voters who want continuous change and improvement," he said.
"In the context of the 2024 presidential election, the idea of change put forward by Anies Baswedan with a focus on sustainability and innovation seems to be a realistic political choice. "This approach reflects a strong understanding of the desires and aspirations of diverse voters," concluded Pangi.
