Joint Team Opens Fire Extinguishing Line At Gunung Jayanti Sukabumi Slope
JAKARTA - The joint team began to open fire fighting routes that burned the Lereng Gunung Jayanti, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
"Currently we are starting to pave the way with a team from the Kodim ready. Meanwhile, we are walking to pave the way while carrying a hose," said Sukabumi Regency Rapid Response Team (TRC) in Charge of the Sukabumi Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Kusmawan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 22.
The BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center reported that a land fire occurred on the slopes of Mount Jayanti, Jayanti Village, Pelabuhan Ratu District, Sukabumi Regency.
The fire was first discovered at 16.10 WIB by the Port Ratu District Disaster Management Officer (P2BK) team.
Kusmawan said that the vegetation in the form of dry shrubs and trees slowly began to be crushed by fire which quickly spread downwards from the slopes due to strong winds.
"Meanwhile, it was observed that the fire was spreading downwards," he said.
Meanwhile, a joint team from the Agency, Damkar, TNI, Polri, P2BK and volunteers are still on standby at locations not far from the hotspots.
In addition, fire engines and water canons from the Sukabumi Police have been alerted for extinguishing and cooling operations.
"The fire truck is ready to spray. The water canon car from the Sukabumi Police has docked and stand by with its personnel from Sabhara," he said.
He said the location of the fire on the steep slopes of the rocks made it difficult for the joint team to extinguish the fire.

Touching on the reason for the origin of the land fire, Kusmawan still did not know about it. But in the future the team will carry out further investigations.
"The joint team is currently focusing on extinguishing and cooling efforts," he said.
Until this press release was released, there had been no report on the impact or casualties caused.
However, the fire that burned the land headed down to the building belonging to the Sukabumi Port of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Meanwhile, the area burned is still under the team's assessment in the field.
