PT Pindad Focuses On Fulfilling "Maung" Requests For Ministry Of Defense Orders In 2 Years
BANDUNG - PT Pindad (Persero) is focusing on meeting the demand for light tactical vehicles "Maung" from the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) in the past two years.
President Director of PT Pindad Abraham Mose said that his party has not been able to accommodate all foreign requests for the latest products of this country's defense company.
"There has actually been a lot of demand for exports, but at this time we are trying to fulfill the contract from the Ministry of Defense, the target is two years," Abraham said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.
For the first phase of the contract, said Abraham, the Ministry of Defense submitted a request for 5,000 units of Maung cars projected for the use of high-ranking officials, middle-ranking officials, to the needs of TNI soldiers.
"Currently we have received the first phase contract of 5,000 units, later it will reach 10,000. The first phase contract is 5,000 units, the target is in the next two years," he said.
A total of 50 units of initial production of Maung's car, he said, will be exhibited at the commemoration of the TNI's anniversary on October 5, 2023, which will continue with mass production with a target of one year reaching 1,500 units.
"That's one year and 1,500 units. So in the second year, we have 3,000 and continued up to 5,000," he said.

Abraham said the Maung car was designed by Pindad, with a rolling chassis monocoque, four-wheeled, 4-times4 driven from a 136-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder race, can travel at a safe speed of 100 kilometers per hour with a distance of up to 500 km, and is equipped with a computerized system.
By having such specifications, Abraham said that the price offered could compete with Sub Urban Vehicle (SUV) vehicles, although it could not mention the price.
"The price if I say, actually competes with cars that incidentally now, SUVs that are good, can be competitive and our prices are below them, but I can't reveal the price yet," said Abraham.
