NU National Conference Harams AI Answer As Guide To Requesting Fatwa
JAKARTA - The National Conference (Munas) Alim Ulama Nahdlatul Ulama mentioned answers from artificial intelligence (AI) or illegal artificial intelligence to be used as guidance or objects requesting religious fatwas.
"Prohibited or forbidden or not (domining religious answers from AI)," said Chairman of the Bahtsul Commission Masail Waqiiyah, Hasan Nuri Hidayatullah at a press conference on the results of the National Conference and the NU Konbes in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.
Hasan said the development of artificial intelligence or AI was rapid and advanced. This progress is used by the community to find answers, including religious matters.
According to Hasan, the National Conference forum stipulates that asking AI for religion is permissible, but it is forbidden to make it a guideline or reference that is practiced.
He stated that the truth of artificial intelligence is not yet guaranteed, although his knowledge may surpass humans.
"Even though this AI has intelligence that may exceed humans, it cannot be used as an object to request a fatwa, because the true element cannot be guaranteed," he said.

According to him, the development of artificial intelligence is currently still produced by non-Muslims. This creates its own bias in the answers presented.
Therefore, PBNU recommends that nahdliyin ulama/citizens can produce their own artificial intelligence so that they can be sterile from interests that are not in accordance with Ahlusunnah wal jamaah's understanding.
"The contents of the content are by people who have fatwa authorities. So, the nahdliyin can get religious references," he said.
