7 Kg of Crystal Methamphetamine Smuggled by Migrant Worker from Malaysia Caught in Asahan Waters
ASAHAN - An illegal Indonesian worker (TKI) with the initials SA carrying 7 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine from Malaysia via Asahan waters, North Sumatra was arrested by the TNI AL's Fleet One Quick Response (F1QR) team at Tanjungbalai Asahan (TBA) Base last Saturday.
From the hands of a man with the initials SA (48), officers recovered seven kilograms of methamphetamine-type narcotics. From SA's statement, the seven kilograms of methamphetamine came from Malaysia and was planned to be taken to East Java to be handed over by his colleague.
From the results of the examination of the perpetrator, who was a drug courier, he was ordered by his colleague with the initials A, who is a resident of East Java, to take methamphetamine for a fee of IDR 350 million.
Danlanal Tanjung Balai Asahan, Marine Lt. Colonel Aan Prana Tuah Seunjung said that the arrest of the methamphetamine courier started with the Lanal Tanjung Balai Asahan Fleet One Quick Response (F1QR) team at that time carrying out routine patrols in the waters of Kuala Bagan Asahan.
At that time the personnel saw a suspicious Nusantara Timur GT motorboat. Then the patrol officers gave chase and forced a stop.
After being successfully stopped, on board the ship there were two crew members (ABK) and 2 PMI. Then the officers conducted a search of the PMI's belongings and the officers found evidence of 7 large packs of crystal methamphetamine weighing 7 kilograms in SA's bag.
Then the officers took the SA perpetrator and the methamphetamine evidence to Mako Lanal Tanjung Balai Asahan, North Sumatra for further investigation.

Then the officers carried out a search of the luggage of the two illegal PMIs and from the bag of one of the passengers with the initials SA they found 7 packs of suspected drugs packaged in tea packets. Apart from evidence of 7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, officers also confiscated three cellphones belonging to the perpetrator, which were a means of communication with the narcotics dealer.
In order to further develop the man's case, SA along with seven kilograms of methamphetamine-type narcotics evidence was handed over to the National Narcotics Agency of North Sumatra Province. The methamphetamine courier also faces a prison sentence of more than 10 years.
