UN Immediately Disburses Emergency Funds Of IDR 153 Billion For Libya
JAKARTA - The head of the United Nations (UN) aid on Thursday announced an emergency fund of US$10 million (around Rp153 billion) for Libya, where thousands of people died as a result of the flood disaster.
"I immediately disbursed 10 million US dollars (approximately Rp153 billion) from the UN emergency fund, CERF, and the submission of additional aid is being pursued," Martin Griffiths said in a statement describing the disaster scale "strengthening shock and heartbreaking."
"Providing a life-saving supply to the community, preventing a secondary health crisis and returning to normal must immediately get rid of other concerns in the difficult times facing Libya," Griffiths said.
He appreciates neighboring Libya and other countries for taking action and deploying SAR teams, doctors and providing supplies.
