Residents Of Mount Putri Bogor Arrested By Police For Insulting Suku In Southeast Sulawesi, Apparently Had Been In Prison

KENDARI - Polda Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) arrested a hate speech perpetrator who insulted one of the tribes in the province of Southeast Sulawesi.

Head of Unit II of Sub-Directorate V Cyber Dit Reskrimsus Polda Sultra Iptu Asfandi said the perpetrator had the initials DS (48), a resident of Gunung Putri District, Bogor City, West Java (West Java).

"The perpetrator was arrested in Bekasi, West Java," said Asfandi, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 14.

DS spread hate speech related to SARA on social media (medsos) using the Facebook account, in June 2023.

"This incident happened in June 2023. DS made a post that offended one of the tribes in Southeast Sulawesi on Facebook," he said.

Asfandi explained, in committing a criminal act of hate speech, the perpetrator used a Facebook account using someone else's name. This was done to eliminate traces and try to trick the police.

"However, after an investigation was carried out. The perpetrator was arrested and immediately secured," he explained.

From the results of the interrogation of the perpetrators, DS admitted that he deliberately spread hate speech because of revenge with someone, so he uploaded provocative sentences on Facebook.

"From the results of the interim examination, the motive is that he claims to have a grudge with someone. To repay his heartache, the perpetrator then created a Facebook account and spread hate speech on social media so that the person becomes a public target," said Asfandi.

After an investigation, the perpetrator was a recidivist from being recently released from the Kendari Class IIA Correctional Institution (Lapas) with a similar case.

"This DS was also arrested by us, the case is the same, namely the issue of ITE about defamation. He has served 22 months in prison," he added.
