Sany Manufacturer Expands Heavy Equipment Factory In Karawang, It Is Expected To Be Able To Absorb 2,000 Workers
JAKARTA - Seeing the huge potential of the Indonesian market, Sany, a heavy equipment manufacturer from China will again start the construction of the second phase of production center in Karawang, West Java, this year.
Sany itself is a producer who produces various types of heavy equipment such as excavators, molens, and others.
"The construction of the second phase has begun. So, the target is to build it in December 2024," said President Director of Sany Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd Chen Jiayuan at a press conference in Karawang, West Java, Tuesday, September 12.
Chen added that his party had invested up to 150 million US dollars for development in this second phase.
He also said that later there would be around 7,000 units of heavy equipment to be produced, consisting of 5,000 excavator units and 2,000 trucks.
"For the workforce that will be absorbed as many as 2,000 employees and the total number of assets for the two stages of this factory (development) is worth US $ 5 billion.
According to him, the construction of this second phase of the factory has been running using an intelligence factory, so that it is in accordance with the industrial standards set by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
"Of course, the factories built are also intelligence factory, smart factory, as well as light house factory, and Industry 4.0. Thus, the guaranteed quality is also for accuracy and speed in production," Chen said.
When the construction of the factory is complete and Sany starts producing, Chen admits that his party will adjust to the market needs in Indonesia.
"So, apart from manufacturing, there will also be stages and developments, namely R&D, also to adjust market conditions in Indonesia, what the market needs, that's what will be produced," he said.
He did not deny that a number of islands in Indonesia have used the products from the Sany company.
"For our units, we have been sent to various islands in Indonesia. Indonesia is an archipelagic country and Sany units are already in many of these countries. For market shares, Indonesia has exceeded the United States and Europe," he concluded.
On the same occasion, Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the heavy equipment industry is currently one of the industrial sectors that supports economic growth, where this industrial product is used for the mining, infrastructure, and plantation sectors.

Agus added that the need for heavy equipment is predicted to continue to increase, reaching 20,000 units per year.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry continues to attract investment, especially in the heavy equipment industry through ease of investing, among others through Government Regulation (PP) Number 5 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing.
"With the expansion of PT Sany Indonesia Machinary, which is one of the main industries of heavy equipment, it is hoped that it can increase added value in the country, create supply chains and employment opportunities, and support downstreaming in the mining sector in accordance with President Jokowi's program," he said.
