JAKARTA - At its annual Roblox Developer Conference (RDC), Roblox announced the expansion of new ways for players to communicate, through Roblox Connect.

Launched later this year, Connect will allow players to be able to call friends from Roblox's list of friends to the immersive space on Roblox to chat with each other.

"By providing a direct Roblox Connect to our millions of creator community, we are releasing their collective intelligence to develop new experiences in communicating," Roblox wrote in his announcement.

This product brings together Roblox avatars, voice chats, and camera-based facial animations into something different from the world of traditional gaming-like platforms.

The company is also seeking more realistic movements for its avatars, and the plan may include a mapping of movement for the movement of the upper hand and body motion.

"We will also continue to develop the ability to express emotions through avatars, more than facial expressions to upper hand and body movements, as well as new machine learning (ML) techniques that enable more realistic avatar movements," the company said.

So that in the near future, the company hopes user avatars will reflect their exact facial expressions, even to the same speed of flickering.

It is likely that the addition will also be widely available on basic consumer hardware that can now run Roblox.

"In the near future, users' avatars will reflect their exact facial expressions, even to the same speed of flickering eyes," he added.
