Police Detain Illegal Sand Mining Owner In Majalengka, 2 Excavators Also Confiscated

MAJALENGKA - Majalengka Resort Police (Polres) regulates illegal mining areas in Cigasong District, Majalengka Regency, West Java. The mine does not have legality of valid licensing.

Majalengka Police Chief AKBP Indra Novianto said the illegal mine belonging to the initials MFR was suspected of extracting sand and red soil without obtaining an official permit.

"The owner of this mining location has the initials MFR and is a resident of Majalengka Regency. Apart from the owner, the police also arrested several related people," said Indra in Majalengka, West Java, Friday, September 8, as reported by Antara.

Based on this problem, said Indra, his party gave law enforcement actions to the mine owner.

He said this law enforcement step was taken after his party received reports from the public regarding illegal mining activities.

In addition to securing the perpetrators, said Indra, his party confiscated two units of excavator heavy equipment, two notebooks, cash from sand sales amounting to Rp360 thousand and others to be used as evidence.

"The mining location is suspected to be a place for extracting sand and red soil without a valid permit," he said.

Indra said the firm action was taken to provide a deterrent effect, so that illegal mining practices did not harm the environment and society.

His party is also committed to eradicating such illegal activities, and does not hesitate to take firm preventive and law enforcement actions.

"This case will be charged with Article 158 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2020 concerning amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2009 concerning mineral and coal mining," he said.
