Polda Stops Coal Transportation Vehicle Activities In Jambi Starting September 2-6
JAMBI - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Jambi Police has temporarily suspended the activities of coal transportation vehicles operating on the provincial national road for the next five days, starting September 2-6, 2023.
Jambi Police Traffic Director Kombes Dhafi said the temporary suspension of activities of coal transportation vehicles was due to the situation that had occurred in recent days related to the operation of coal transportation mobilization which was quite disturbing to the road users.
According to him, the congestion that occurs on several roads used by coal transportation vehicles has an impact on people's operating hours in the morning and afternoon.
"The temporary suspension of activities of coal transportation vehicles also shows the increasing number of traffic accidents caused by the violation of coal transportation," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 31.
He said the termination of the mobilization of coal transportation applies to those crossing public roads, both on national roads and provincial roads to Talang Duku Port or vice versa.
"The discipline of the police is extended if the problem above is not resolved," he said.
Based on the analysis and findings of the Jambi Police Ditlantas, namely the results of monitoring through the Bara Intersection application and the results of calculations at the terminal for their own interests (TUKS), found that the coal transportation mobility quota operating was more than 4,000 units per day and within one day (as of August 25, 2023) 203 coal transportation traffic violations were found.
These violations included 73 violations for not being able to show a SIM, 80 violations were unable to show a STNK, and 50 violations for not being able to show KIR.
In addition, he said, there was a damaged road that had occurred in the coal transportation route, so far there has been no improvement, which should be the responsibility of the mining company and the coal transportation transport association as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 1827 of 2018 and also violated the decision of the meeting chaired by Deputy 1 Chief of Staff of the Presidential Chief of Staff on April 18, 2023.
Another violation, the task force (task force) which is a form of support from the transport service association in an effort to facilitate traffic flow as well as supervision and control of coal transportation operating hours is no longer running.
"So there was traffic jams at several road points which were marked by an increase in public complaint reports through a short message service on the Jambi Police Whatsapp," he said.

In addition, the results of checking the tonnage of coal transport vehicles that cross national roads and provincial roads have exceeded the quota of applicable regulations, it was agreed that the average tonnage of coal transportation would be between 16 -19 tons.
"This causes roads to be damaged and coal transport trucks that are broken as well as more than three units in one day the operational hours of coal transportation," he said.
He hopes that mining and transport companies can understand this as a form of implementation of commitment, in accordance with the results of the meeting chaired by Deputy 1 of the Presidential Chief of Staff on April 18, 2023.
