An Indirect Year-exchanged Baby Was Handed Over To An Original Parent, Agreed A One Month Transition Period
BOGOR - Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) explained the process of one month transition period for two babies that were swapped in Bogor Regency, West Java.
"It cannot be given directly (the baby to his parents). It needs stages. We offer six months (transition period), but they agree one month," said Deputy for Special Protection for Children of the Ministry of PPPA Nahar when met on the sidelines of the National Coordination Meeting for the Empowerment of Women and Child Protection in Bogor as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 31.
Nahar detailed that during the one month transition period, in the first week, social workers and psychologists from the Bogor Regency Government visited S's family home and D's family for an assessment.
In the second week, a routine meeting was held between two families at the Bogor Police Station.
"Meetings can be once, many times in that week," said Nahar.
In the third week, an adjustment process was carried out for children to form a attachment to their original parents.
"The process of adjusting (the child is given to his parents) through 1x24 hours first, 2x24 hours, and 3x24 hours," said Nahar.

"We will see how it is attached to the original family. If it is appropriate to be handed over, later on September 29, 2023, children will be handed over," said Nahar.
Previously, two babies in Bogor Regency, West Java, were allegedly swapped at Sentosa Hospital, Bogor, moments after the two babies were born in July 2022.
The two babies were only confirmed to be swapped a year later after the baby underwent a DNA test.
