566 Assembled Guns Seized During Operation Of The Lampung Police Were Destroyed
Lampung Police destroyed 566 homemade firearms (senpi) of various types and sizes which were evidence from Operation Brush and Ceremony 2023.
"The firearms that we destroyed included 463 revolver-type short-barreled weapons, 55 short-barreled pistols and 48 long-barreled weapons," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika, at the Lampung Police Headquarters, Wednesday, August 30, as reported by Antara.
Apart from originating from Operation Brush and Pekat 2023, said Helmy, the rifles and 295 rounds of ammunition were also obtained from various other police activities.
"During Operation Brush 2023, as many as 283 pieces and ammunition as many as 75 grains and in Operation Pekat, 168 pieces and 130 rounds of ammunition were secured," he said.
Then, he continued, there were also firearms that were destroyed from voluntary submission by the community, namely as many as 168 weapons and 133 bullets.
"Furthermore, there were also firearms obtained from the arrest of the perpetrators who took firm and measured action as many as eight bullets and 25 bullets," he said.

Helmy appealed to people who still keep and have illegal or homemade firearms to be handed over to the local police.
"We will not process it if it is submitted voluntarily but if used to commit a criminal act it will definitely be processed," he said.
He said that all the evidence had received a confiscation from the local district court and the determination of the destruction from the district court.
"After this destruction is carried out, we will melt the evidence of the homemade firearms. We also appreciate people who have voluntarily surrendered illegal firearms to the authorities and the police as well as to elements of the TNI," he said.
