Four Fishermen Who Were Floating In Wakatobi Waters Were Evacuated By The SAR Team
The Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team, Kendari Basarnas evacuated four fishermen who drowned due to a ship accident in the waters north of Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) in a safe condition.
Head of Basarnas Kendari Muhammad Arafah explained that the ship accident report was first informed by one of the victims' families, on Wednesday (30/8) at around 06.43 WITA.
"What reported that there had been a ship accident, namely one GT 5 fishing boat with four shiploads sank in the waters north of Wakatobi," said Arafah, quoted by ANTARA.
Based on this information, continued Arafah, his party then dispatched the Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team to the scene to provide SAR assistance.
"The distance from the incident location with the Wakatobi SAR Post is about 34 nautical miles," he said.
After arriving at the location, said Arafah, his party immediately conducted a search and search for the victims. At 07.35 WITA, the SAR team received information from the Waha Village Head who reported the discovery of four victims by Waha fishermen.
"The four victims were found adrift in the sea using a raft about 10 nautical miles northwest of the estimated location of the victim's last.
He said the four fishermen who drowned were found safe and immediately taken to Waha Village.
"At 07.40 WITA, the Joint SAR Team headed to Waha Village to ensure the truth of the information," he explained.

After confirming the information reported by the Head of Waha Village, he continued, the Joint SAR Team immediately evacuated the four victims to Marina Harbor, Wanci, Wakatobi Regency.
"It was immediately handed over to the family," he said.
