Police Reveal 10 Cases Of Land And Forest Burning In Central Kalimantan, 12 Perpetrators Arrested
The police arrested 12 land burners from various places in Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan). The perpetrators were arrested from 10 cases revealed.
"All the perpetrators are now also languishing in the detention house of the Police Headquarters to undergo an intensive examination of the case they were carrying out," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the Central Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Setyo K Heryatno in Central Kalimantan, Thursday, August 24, confiscated by Antara.
Setyo explained, of the 10 cases revealed, the Kapuas Police handled one case with three perpetrators, with a land area that was burned by five hectares.
Then, at the East Kotawaringin Police (Kotim) two cases with two perpetrators, with a land area of 14 hectares, the Sukamara Police with three suspected perpetrators and a land area of two hectares.
The Seruyan Police have two cases and two perpetrators have an area of 2.8 hectares. The West Kotawaringin Police have one case and one perpetrator, with a land area of 50 hectares.
As for the Pulang Pisau Police, there was one case with one perpetrator and 1.8 hectares of land burned.
"Until now, all actors are individuals and we have not found any cases of forest and land fires that indicate to corporations," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Central Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol. Erlan Munaji, added that in carrying out the actions, the perpetrators used various methods.
The perpetrator deliberately slashed the grass and burned it until the fire spread, then there was also the perpetrator who sprayed plant poison liquid so that the plant was dry which was then burned by the perpetrator.
"There is also a reason that if clearing land by burning it is an efficient measure, in terms of time and saving costs," he explained.
To account for their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 187 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 108 of Law Number 32 of 2009, concerning environmental protection and management.
"The threat is that the perpetrators are sentenced to a minimum of three years and a maximum of 10 years and a fine of at least Rp. 3 billion and a maximum of Rp. 10 billion," said Setyo.
