Former Head Of West Seram PUPR, Peking Calling, Charged With State Loss Of IDR 5.07 Billion In Ship Procurement Projects
The Ambon Corruption Court Panel of Judges held the first trial of the alleged corruption case of funds for the procurement of operational vessels for the West Seram Regency Government (SSB), Maluku, involving two suspects on behalf of Peking Calling and Farid.Peaking Calling is a former Head of PUPR Office of SBB Regency while Farid is an employee of BUMN PT. The Indonesian Classification Bureau/supervisory consultant in the project in question.The chairman of the Ambon Corruption Court, Haris Tewa, accompanied by two member judges, opened the trial with the agenda of hearing the reading of the indictment of the Maluku Attorney General's Office, Achmad Atamimi.The prosecutor in his indictment explained that in the 2020 fiscal year the West Seram Regency Government (SBB) allocated a budget of IDR 7.1 billion for the procurement of a district government operational ship.However, until the end of the 2020 fiscal year, it turns out that the operational ship of the district government has not been seen until now, resulting in a state financial loss of Rp5.07 billion.The suspects were charged with the primary Article 2 paragraph (1) Juncto Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and updated by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.Subsidiary Article 3 Juncto Article 18 of Law Number 31 1999 as amended and updated by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
After reading the indictment, the defendants through their legal advisors stated that they did not accept the prosecutor's indictment so that an exception was carried out at the follow-up trial next week.Meanwhile, the panel of judges in the trial explicitly advised that any party not be allowed to come to the panel of judges regarding the handling of the case.
