Vice President Ma'ruf Amin accompanied by Wury Ma'ruf Amin's Wife attended the Commemoration Ceremony of the Seconds of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace Courtyard, Jakarta, Thursday, August 17.
As in previous years, one of the attractions of the implementation of the Indonesian Independence Day Commemoration Ceremony was the use of traditional clothes that varied from all over the archipelago worn by the President, Vice President, as well as fillers and ceremony participants.
The vice president arrived at the Merdeka Palace at around 09.30 WIB, the vice president was seen wearing Padang traditional clothes, West Sumatra with purple nuances with a mixture of gold accents.
The shirt is combined with a songket cloth that covers the waist and Keris decorations on the front. The philosophical meaning of the clothes worn by the Vice President is to symbolize the leadership of the person wearing it. The dominating purple color further reinforces the character.
Meanwhile, accessories in the form of Keris tucked around the waist symbolize caution in taking action. Users must think and think ill of something before making a decision.
In line with the Vice President, Wury Ma'ruf Amin looks elegant wearing a typical Koto Gadang dress in line with the Vice President, purple, and gold. This dress reflects the philosophy of "Minangkabau Basyandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Bookullah", a custom applied in society that cannot be separated from Islamic religious principles.
Unlike Minang clothing, usually used as'sun penggung', Koto Gadang traditional clothing is identical to the quadrilateral cloth worn on the head or known as "tingkuluak talakuang".
Quoted from ANTARA, Tingkuluak talakuang is a type of rectangular cloth used on the head, hinting as a telekung on the mukena and signaling that the Minangkabau people highly uphold Islam.
While on the part of the shirt, the bracket model on Koto Gadang traditional clothing has a specially designed gap in the neck and means that the wearer can receive input from anyone and has a wise attitude in responding to the input.
In addition to the morning ceremony, in the afternoon the Vice President and Wury Ma'ruf Amin's wife are scheduled to attend the Red and White Sang Saka Red Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace Courtyard and will wear traditional Pontianak clothing, West Kalimantan, with orange nuances.
