Due To Persija And PSM Makassar, Erick Thohir Seriously Working On Rules For Foreign Coaches
JAKARTA PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir confirmed that he would implement regulations related to foreign coaches in Indonesia. This is the aftermath of the question of calling players for the benefit of the Indonesian national team.
The question of calling this player began with the preparation of the Indonesian national team for the AFF U-23 Cup this month. Several coaches in the Indonesian League 1 detained players who were called to participate in the national team training camp.
"Coaches who come here must appreciate Indonesian football culture. They must make a contribution back," said Erick Thohir at Field A, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
The two mainstay players who were ultimately unable to be brought up by coach Shin Tae Yong were Rizky Ridho and Dzaky Asraf. In fact, the two names were previously in the first player to be called up.
Rizky was detained by Persija Jakarta coach Thomas Doll. Meanwhile, Dzaky was not allowed to join the national team by PSM Makassar coach Bernardo Tavares.
The two coaches have a strong reason not to release their players, namely the AFF Cup is not on the FIFA agenda. Therefore, it is not an obligation for them to release players.

This issue made Erick also plan to issue regulations governing foreign coaches who want to take jobs in Indonesia. He said that in the future, the mission of foreign coaches must be in line with the needs of the national team.
"Do the coaches who come here have a love of building Indonesian football. Otherwise, surely (still) there are many coaches in the world who want to (train in Indonesia)," said Erick.
However, said Erick, this regulation cannot be issued in the near future. The process to implement this policy still takes time and the plan for next season can take effect.
"But I don't want the process to be this season. Be patient. We already want to record it. It's called a foreign worker if you work here there is a regulation of the Minister of Manpower (Menaker). We are free," said the Minister of SOEs.
