Jokowi's Message To LPDP Recipients: The Most Important Thing Is To Go Home Even Though The Salaries Here Are Lower

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) advised beneficiaries of student duties from the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) to make good use of their knowledge and return to the country after the study period is over.

"The most important thing is that I leave it home, go home, go home even though the salary here may be slightly lower, but still go home," President Jokowi said at the LPDP Fest in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.

In his remarks at the event attended by the LPDP recipients, Jokowi repeatedly conveyed a message that the recipient of the budget assistance from the education endowment fund would return home and contribute to development in Indonesia.

The recipients of LPDP, said Jokowi, are human resources (HR) needed by the state to face development challenges.

"Although perhaps good facilities in other countries, we still go home because our country currently really needs young people who have thoughts, who have a better vision ahead, and we really don't have that kind of human resources," he said.

The government, said the Head of State, has disbursed a budget for LPDP of up to IDR 139 trillion at this time or a significant increase compared to 2015 which is only IDR 15 trillion.

"There is a lot of money (state money) to be put into LPDP, only these human resources can we compete or not with other countries. The key is here," said Jokowi.
