Solo Community Enthusiastically Welcomes FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023

JAKARTA - The people of Solo, Central Java, are enthusiastic about welcoming the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Indonesia, as can be seen from the excitement of the international event socialization event which took place at Solo Techno Park, Surakarta, Saturday.

The Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who was present at the socialization event said that his party fully supports the holding of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Jakarta Indonesia which will start on August 25.

The organizing committee for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup conducted socialization of the appointment of Indonesia as the host of international world basketball activities through a trophy tour and 3X3 basketball matches.

According to the Deputy Director of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Agus Mauro, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 socialization series was carried out through a trophy tour to cities where basketball bases in Indonesia and Solo became the first cities to become places for this activity.

"Indonesia to host the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup was extraordinary to the people of Solo. We chose Solo as the first place to be done and it turned out that the enthusiasm of the community was extraordinary," Agus said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

From Solo City, the trophy tour will then go to Denpasar Bali, Surabaya, and finally Jakarta.

Agus said that with the socialization of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Trophy Tour, it is hoped that more people will know that Indonesia will soon host a basketball event featuring world-class players.

The world-class basketball event will be held at the international-class "Indonesia Arena" Stadium with modern facilities and has a audience capacity of more than 15,250 people.

Jakarta will be the venue for the Group G and H preliminary round matches which will be followed by eight countries, namely defending champions Spain, Canada, France, Ivory Coast, Latvia, Lebanon, Brazil and Iran.

"In addition to socializing the FIBA Basketball World Cup, we also inspired children to target their dreams of how to have this basketball world-class trophy, through the hard work of training programmed by PP Perbasi. How can we talk to the international level," he said.

Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi), Danny Kosasih, said Indonesia could host the world basketball championship, giving a hope to the younger generation that one day Indonesia could make world-class achievements.

"So the World Team is an extraordinary spectacle and we dream that they can play in Indonesia and in reality now (world-class players) can play in Indonesia," he said.

According to him, Indonesia can be selected to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup with Japan and the Philippines is an extraordinary achievement because they beat Russia, Turkey and seven other countries also want to become home members. Indonesia is the host.
