Brigadier General Asep Resigns From His Position At The KPK, IM57+ Institute: Very Friendly

JAKARTA - Indonesia Calling (IM) 57+ Institute said Brigadier General Asep Guntur Rahayu's steps to resign as Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution and Director of KPK Investigation were honorable. Moreover, the head of the anti-corruption commission seemed to throw away the agency related to the polemic of hand arrest operations (OTT) at the National SAR Agency.

"The action of the Director of Investigation and the Acting Deputy for Enforcement who resigned because the leadership blamed the investigators as a very honorable act," said IM57+ Institute Chair M Praswad Nugraha in a written statement, Saturday, July 29.

Praswad said Asep was not the party that should be fully responsible for this polemic. The decision to determine the suspect is the KPK leadership.

However, Asep's move should have been a slap to Firli Bahuri and four other leaders. "It should have been answered that you shouldn't wash your hands as if this is the job of the investigative team alone," he said.

"KPK leaders should be ashamed of the actions taken by appearing to be hands off," continued Praswad.

The TNI Puspom previously expressed objections when the KPK named Henri along with the Kabasarnas Administrative Coordinator (Koorsmin) Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto as a suspect. This step is considered to have violated military rules. Furthermore, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak apologized for the determination. He said investigators and investigators made a mistake. Meanwhile, Henri was named a suspect in the aftermath of a hand arrest operation (OTT) in Cilangkap, Jakarta and Jatisampurna, Bekasi on Tuesday, July 24.

Henri is suspected of having raised command funds of up to Rp88.3 billion. The money was pocketed by private parties who wanted to work on projects at his institution from 2021-2023. The receipt of the money was called the KPK by Henri through Koorsmin Kabasarnas Afri Budi Cahyanto. In addition to Henri and Afri, the anti-corruption commission also determined three private parties who gave money during the silent operation. They are the President Commissioner of PT Multi Grafika Cipta Sejati Mulsunadi Gunawan, President Director of PT Intertekno Grafika Sejati Marilya, President Director of PT Kindah Abadi Utama Roni Aidil.

This case began when Basarnas carried out several projects in 2023. The first project is the procurement of debris victims detection equipment with a contract value of Rp9.9 billion.

Second, the public safety diving equipment procurement project with a contract value of Rp. 17.3 billion. Finally, the procurement of ROV for KN SAR Ganesha is worth Rp. 89.9 billion.
