Papuan Police Chief: Cartenz Peace Task Force Personnel Will Strengthen Homeyo Police After The KKB Attack

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said he would shift the personnel of the Cartenz Peace Task Force to Homeyo, Intan Jaya Regency to strengthen the local police.

Cartenz Peace Personnel will soon be shifted to Homeyo but the numbers have not been confirmed.

"With the shift of Damai Cartenz personnel, it is hoped that it can strengthen the personnel at the Homeyo Police," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Fakhiri as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 17.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benni Prabowo, said that the KKB carried out attacks and opened fire on the Polsek and Koramil Homeyo, Sunday (16/7) for about two hours.

A shootout between the KKB and the security forces at Homeyo occurred during a meeting related to the disappearance of firearms belonging to the Homeyo Police.

When the meeting took place suddenly KKB shot at the Polsek and then shot at Koramil Homeyo.

There were no casualties from the security forces and residents in the firefight.

KKB, on Saturday evening (15/7) at around 18.00 WIT, stole a firearm (senpi) belonging to the Homeyo Police.

"Hopefully with the help of the senpi community it can be returned," hoped Kombes Benni.

The senpi belonging to the Homeyo Police, which was stolen by the SS1 KKB. To reach Homeyo, about 10 minutes was taken by plane from Sugapa, the capital of Intan Jaya Regency.
