Bentley Rebuilds Legendary Model Speed Six To Celebrate Her Celebration At Le Mans
JAKARTA - Another car that we have been waiting for at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend is the new Bentley Speed Six model.
Speed Six is the most successful Bentley race car in history, and is considered one of the most important Bentleys in the company's history. After 93 years, a new Speed Six will make its global debut at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Bentley Speed Six was the 24-hour winner of Le Mans in 1929 and 1930, as well as a number of other races. Well, the Speed Six on display are known as "Car Zero," will not be sold to customers, but will serve as a test vehicle as part of the Bentley development program. But later there will be more specially made as many as 12 units that will be sent to customers who have ordered them.
Quoted from Bentley's media room, July 12, Car Zero is not just a replica but is built in the same design and uses the same process as the original car which inspired this series.
The Speed Six itself is the second version of the continuation of Blower Bentley produced before the world war created by Mulliner, special division and special buildup of Bentley.
To build Car Zero, the team behind its work used as many images and original documents as possible, as well as one of the original Speed Six racing cars stored in the Bentley Heritage Collection. The team also used original mechanical records of the era to find all the enhanced details between 1929 and 1930 to help maintain the same specifications as the 24 Hour Le Mans race.
Car Zero uses a six-cylinder 6.5-liter engine made using 600 new parts, preliminary testing shows that this continuation car produces 205 dk of power which is only 5 dk different from the 1930 racing engine.
Car Zero dipoles with authentic materials and offered in five choices of paint colors that match that period, an example of a car that will be displayed on Goodwood using the Napier Green Parsons color with a brown leather interior.
This car will be maximally tested by Bentley to ensure that 12 of its production cars are ready for customers. So, in the next six months, Car Zero will undergo a travel test program of 35,000 km.
