Director General Of Immigration Ensures Indonesian Passport Data Is Safe, No Leaks

JAKARTA - Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim said the biometric data (finger and face) of the passport holders of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) is safe and there is no leakage of Immigration database.

Silmy said, the team from the Directorate of Immigration Information Systems and Technology (SISTIC) and the Directorate of Immigration Intelligence of the Directorate General of Immigration in coordination with the Ministry of Communication and Information and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), had investigated rumors of leakage of RI passport data.

"The results of the interim investigation show that no RI passport biometric data has been leaked. The passport biometric data and passport support data for passport applications are all safe," Silmy said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 12.

Silmy's statement responded to the conversation circulating on social media, namely about 34 million RI passport data allegedly leaked and traded. He said the data that was allegedly leaked was text data, where the data structure was not the data used by the Directorate General of Immigration at this time.

"The Directorate General of Immigration is implementing ISO 270001-2022. The ISO certificate will be issued in July (2023). The Directorate General of Immigration continues to improve the security of the data it has," said Silmy.

ISO 270001-2022 is the standard information security management system that provides a list of compliance requirements that can be certified by organizations and professionals.

The ISO standard helps organizations in building, implementing, maintaining, and improving information security management systems (ISMS).

Silmy said that currently RI passport data is stored in the National Data Center (PDN) of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo). The Directorate General of Immigration coordinates with the Ministry of Communication and Information and BSSN to maintain and improve the security of the Immigration database.

Therefore, Silmy appealed to the people of the country not to worry and worry in providing personal data for passport making purposes.

"People don't need to worry and worry if they want to apply for a RI passport and upload their personal data for this purpose," said Silmy.
