Medan District Court Judge Sentenced To Killer Wife Of Life Imprisonment

MEDAN - The judge of the Medan District Court, sentenced the defendant Indra Saputra to life for the murder of his wife, Nurmaya Santi Siregar in Medan.

"The trial sentenced the defendant Indra Saputra to life imprisonment," said Chief Judge Zufida Hanum as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.

The panel of judges assessed that the defendant was proven to have violated Article 340 of the Criminal Code as the primary indictment.

"The thing that burdens the defendant is heinous, causing casualties and complicated to provide information. Meanwhile, the mitigating thing is regretting his actions," said Zufida.

After reading the verdict, the panel of judges gave the public prosecutor (JPU) and the defendant's legal adviser (PH) to think about it or accept the verdict.

The verdict of the panel of judges is also the same as the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Medan District Attorney for life.

Previously, the prosecutor's indictment explained that it started with the defendant's argument with Nurmaya Santi Siregar's wife. At that time the victim left the house for a week by bringing their children with the knowledge of the defendant who works as a motor rickshaw.

Indra Saputra then looked for the victim's whereabouts and finally found out about their whereabouts in the Marelan area and left their children at a friend's house.

Then on Sunday (23/10/2022), the defendant took a machete from Jalan Amaliun, Medan City and stored it in the trunk of the betor.

In short, while on Jalan Mandala By Pass Medan, the defendant hit the betor who was taken by the victim, then the defendant came down from the betor to take the machete he kept in the trunk, and was tortured to death.
