Plunge Into The Electric Bicycle Market, Peugeot Presents Three Models Of E-Bike
JAKARTA - The electric bicycle segment is experiencing rapid growth today. Apart from having modern designs, electric bicycles or e-bikes also provide convenience in the daily activities of their users.
In this trend, many motorcycle manufacturers are trying to enter the electric bicycle market. For example, GasGas recently launched an urban e-bike, while Kawasaki introduced a cargo e-bike called Noslisu.
Now, it is the turn of French automotive company, Peugeot, to enter this segment by launching an e-bike designed to meet the daily needs of users.
Reported by Electrek, Sunday, July 2, Peugeot Cycles released several e-bike variants that accommodate various consumer needs. They offer city commuter e-bike, long-tail cargo e-bike, and front-loader cargo e-bike.
One of the newest models is City Commuter e-bike, also known as Digital E-Bike. The design has two disconnected top tubes that replace traditional downtubes, providing a more contemporary look.
The mid-drive electric motor is placed at the bottom of the bike, replacing the conventional chain system. The motor is integrated with the rear wheel to provide the driving force on the e-bike.
In addition, there is also another model called Longtail Cargo e-bike, or known as Digital e-Longtail. This bicycle is equipped with a carrier basket on the back that can accommodate one to two children. The proportion between the front and the back is designed in balance for a proportional display.
The third is the Front-Loader e-bike, also known as the Digital e-Front Load. This bike has an extended front wheelbase to facilitate the use of transport boxes that can accommodate three children or groceries.
Although the prices of these three e-bike models have yet to be announced, Peugeot showcased them at the Pro-Day event at Paris Exhibition, Porte de Versailles, France, from July 2 to July 4.
