31.6 Tons of Humanitarian Aid Flown to Myanmar Using Garuda Aircraft

JAKARTA - The national airline Garuda Indonesia flew 31.6 tons of humanitarian aid to Yangon, Myanmar which was transported by an Airbus A330-300 fleet.

The aid was flown in on Monday, June 26. This humanitarian assistance was initiated by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"The assistance consists of health kits, logistical needs and disaster response equipment for the victims of Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar," said Garuda Indonesia Main Director, Irfan Setiaputra, Tuesday, June 27.

Irfan explained that the humanitarian flight departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with GA-8560 at 14.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and arrived at Yangon International Airport at 17.35 LT.

Irfan said the humanitarian flight was a form of Garuda Indonesia's commitment to always fulfill its commitment, as the national flag carrier, to fully support the solidarity of the Indonesian people, especially in international humanitarian missions.

"Of course, it is an honor for us to be able to contribute again in realizing Indonesia's humanitarian mission to friendly countries, where the delivery of this assistance not only represents our commitment to always be at the forefront of carrying out national missions but also as part of a form of international solidarity," he explained.

Irfan said that the departure of humanitarian assistance from the people of Indonesia for the people of Myanmar who were affected by the Mocha cyclone disaster had been carried out through intensive coordination with stakeholders, especially with regard to the safety and security aspects of interstate flights.

"Regarding the transportation of this humanitarian aid, we would like to express our appreciation and thank all parties who have supported the smooth running of the entire humanitarian flight process," he said.

Irfan hopes that the synergy in this humanitarian mission will provide more than just benefits for our brothers and sisters in Myanmar, but also an injection of enthusiasm and a message of brotherhood from the Indonesian people.
