Bank Indonesia: Digital Payment Transactions Increase In All Channels
JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that digital transaction growth occurred in all payment channels at the end of May 2023. This was emphasized by BI Governor Perry Warjiyo when holding a press conference in the middle of this week.
"The payment system transaction continues to rise with maintained system stability and increasing digital payment services," he said.
According to Perry, digital banking transactions increased rapidly by 31.83 percent year on year (yoy) and electronic money (EU) grew by 17.90 percent last month.
"Meanwhile, Card Payment Equipment Transactions (APMK), such as ATM and debit cards and credit cards grew 8.31 percent," he said.
Perry explained that the adoption and use of QRIS is increasingly widespread. This is reflected in the addition of the number of users and QRIS merchants, which currently have reached 35.80 million and 26.1 million, respectively.

"QRIS recorded a total transaction volume of 744 million, in line with the development of QRIS features in the domestic and international countries," he said.
Furthermore, the BI-FAST acceptance also continues to increase with the transaction value in May 2023 reaching IDR 462 trillion with a transaction volume of 161.2 million.
Meanwhile, the amount of Kartal Money circulated (UYD) in May 2023 grew 4.5 percent yoy so that it became IDR 972 trillion in line with economic activities.
"Bank Indonesia continues to ensure the availability of rupiah currency with quality maintained throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, including by continuing institutional cooperation in the distribution of rupiah into 3T or outermost, frontier, remote areas," BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
