PKB Believes That As A Figure Prabowo Subianto Will Maintain The Authority To Respect Coalition Friends

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the National Awakening Party (PKB) Yusuf Chodlori believes the Gerindra Party is still committed to the coalition of political parties in the 2024 election."We are still thinking positively that Gerindra will commit, Pak Prabowo is also a figure, he will definitely maintain his authority to respect coalition friends, who first built a coalition," he said at the PKB DPP Office, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, June 19.This was conveyed by Gus Yusuf when asked whether PKB had an alternative, if Prabowo Subianto did not choose Muhaimin as a vice presidential candidate."Communication with Gerindra continues, we just trust each other until D day and this will not take long," he said.PKB and Gerindra have formed the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KIR). The coalition has confirmed that Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto will be promoted as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.Gus Yusuf emphasized that the PKB DPP does not yet have an alternative to the vice presidential candidate promoted by KIR. Because, the DPP is still committed to the congress in Bali, which stipulates that Gus Muhaimin must run as a presidential or vice presidential candidate."We believe that Gerindra will continue to maintain the support and commitment of this togetherness until the 2024 election," he said.In fact, he said, the DPP had banned Gus Muhaimin from issuing a statement regarding the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres).Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.
Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
