Volvo And Polestar Present Youtube Watching Features For Car Users
JAKARTA - Good news for Volvo and Polestar car users! The two manufacturers have officially presented a Youtube viewing feature to entertain their car users.
Reporting on the Drive page on Monday, June 12, Volvo and Polestar made an update to their software, which just launched this month.
However, this Youtube viewing feature can only be enjoyed by Volvo users who have an Automotive Android infotainment system, including Polestar 2, all 2023 models, and the latest Volvo and Polestar models.
The platform's built-in Youtube app allows users to share videos that can be displayed on the touch screen in the middle of the car dashboard. This feature works when the vehicle is parked and connected to the internet.
To access this feature, Volvo and Polestar users must connect to WiFi or use a device with a mobile data connection that can be connected via Bluetooth. In addition, the vehicle must be stopped or parked so that this feature can be used.
This means users can only enjoy videos on Youtube using this feature while they are charging their cars. This also applies to users of the latest Volvo and Polestar cars with gasoline and diesel engines while refueling.
Android Automotive itself is one of the operating systems developed by Google to meet driver needs. This system has been in Volvo cars since 2019.
Volvo and Polestar are not the first automotive manufacturers to launch this feature. Previously, Tesla had introduced a video viewing feature on Youtube in 2019 by adding a Netflix streaming platform.
This over-the-air software update also applies to Apple CarPlay users, who can now use Apple Maps navigation features and view incoming call information on the Digital Driver view.

For Polestar 2 models, a "Range Assistant" application is also provided providing feedback to drivers about energy consumption during their journey, such as 20 km, 40 km, or the last 100 km. The system also provides advice on how to drive more efficiently to save energy.
