KRI Teluk Hading-538 Fire In Selayar Strait Is Being Investigated

Head of the Naval Information Service (Kadispenal) First Admiral I Made Wira Hady Arsanta confirmed that he would immediately investigate the KRI Teluk Hading-538 fire incident around 11 Nautical Mike (NM) East Selayar Strait, South Sulawesi.

"The cause of the temporary fire is being investigated, because smoke has come out of the back (of the KRI ship), and is quite thick," said Admiral Hady in Makassar, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 3.

He explained that the rescue process for the entire KRI crew took place quickly and there were no casualties in the incident. It is estimated that 13.15 WITA in the eastern waters of the Selayar Strait

"Alhamdulillah, because the crew often exercise, and the rescue process goes quickly. So, there are no victims. So, we often train this in anticipating the possibility that occurs when our elements carry out their duties," he told reporters.

Regarding the chronology of the cause of the fire, it is currently not known for sure, but it is known that the report regarding the fire incident was received by the Selayar Basarnas at around 14.15 WITA.

"Meanwhile, the Indonesian Navy team has come down to carry out an investigation into the incident," he asserted.

He explained, for the condition of the ship, it was carried out operations and moving and Jakarta towards carrying out routine operations in the working area of Fleet III Command. The ship carried 119 personnel, with details of 62 crew members and 57 passengers.

"Alhamdulillah, all survived. There were no temporary casualties, the evacuation process for the entire crew of the ship was brought to Makassar," he added.
