Physical Hina Regent On Social Media, Eko Asal Situbondo Arrested By Police

SITUBONDO - Situbondo Resort Police (Polres), East Java, finally arrested Eko Febrianto (39), a suspect in insulting the Situbondo Regent Karna Suswandi after about 2 years on the wanted list (DPO).

The suspect was arrested hours later after the police received information that the alleged regent insulted him through video content and spread to social media, a photo together with the Regent of Karna Suswandi at the Besuki District Square-Alun cattle contest event, Wednesday (31/5).

"Yesterday we received information that the Situbondo Police DPO suspect took a photo with the Regent during the livestock contest in Besuki Square. So, I immediately ordered him to be arrested within 1\time 24 hours," said Situbondo Police Chief AKBP Dwi Sumrahadi Rakhmanto, quoted by ANTARA, Friday June.

According to him, it didn't take long for the suspect to arrest the DPO suspect who insulted the Situbondo Regent. Within about 3-4 hours of the instructions to arrest the suspect, the Satreskrim officers finally arrested him at his residence, Mimbaan Village, Panji District, Friday (2/6) in the morning.

"We have to arrest the DPO, whoever it is. Moreover, the person concerned has appeared in public, even taking pictures with the Regent of Karna Suswandi, who is none other than the reporter for his case," said the Police Chief.

Kapolres Dwi Sumrahadi stated that his party set Eko Febrianto on the wanted list since March 19, 2021, for the case of insulting the Regent of Situbondo Karna Suswandi at the end of 2020 through video content and spread to social media.

"In August 2021, investigators named him a suspect along with his colleague IB. IB's colleague was immediately detained, while Eko Febrianto fled," he said.

Suspect Eko Febrianto insulted the Regent of Situbondo Karna Suswandi by physically denouncing. The insult through the video was then spread by the suspect IB through social media, one of which was through the WhatsApp application.

"The two suspects were charged with the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) with a penalty of 6 years in prison," said the Police Chief.
