Medan District Court Starts To Tried Couriers Of 50 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Aceh
The Medan District Court (PN) has begun to try the defendant Hendra Saputra, who is a resident of Lhokseumawe, Aceh, who is suspected of being a courier of 50 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, to be given to recipients in Medan City.
The Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, Rotua Hutabarat, explained that on Sunday, March 12, 2023, the defendant who was at home in Lhokseumawe, Aceh was contacted by Jhoni.
"Then the defendant received an operational fee of Rp. 5 million to rent a car and lodging. Then the defendant agreed to come to Medan by renting a car to carry the goods," said the prosecutor as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 23.
Rotua said that at around 06.00 WIB, he arrived in Medan and rented a room at a hotel on Jalan Gatot Subroto. Then on March 15, 2023, Jhoni contacted the defendant to meet at the gas station on Jalan Gagak Hitam Medan.
"It was informed by the 'Code 99', then when he arrived at the location, namely it was in front of a gas station, and turned on the left car'sign' light, then the 'Code 99' approached the defendant's car," he said.
In short, Jhoni ordered the defendant to remain at the hotel waiting for the recipient with the code 105, and the defendant was ordered to contact him. However, getting information from the North Sumatra Police immediately secured the defendant.
Then the personnel searched the illicit goods in the car with evidence of 50 packs of packaged weighing 50 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, and brought the defendant for questioning.

On this charge, the defendant Hendra Saputra virtually denied the charges and did not know the methamphetamine.
"I know that I was told to deliver goods (shabu), I work for the panel of judges' travel," he said.
For the actions of the defendant, he was threatened with Criminal Article 114 paragraph 2 or Article 112 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.
