Forget The Euphoria Of The 2023 SEA Games, It's Time To Look At The Malaysia Masters

JAKARTA - The Indonesian badminton team achieved an ordinary liter at the 2023 SEA Games. Five gold medals were successfully brought from Cambodia.

However, the euphoria must be immediately forgotten by Indonesian badminton athletes. The reason is, new tasks are waiting for them.

The Cipayung troops are now eyeing the best results at the Indonesia Masters 2023 which will take place May 23-28. Understandably, the Malaysia Masters became the first individual tournament to enter the tally of qualifying points for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Obviously we are eyeing the best results, hopefully the children will be able to bring out all their abilities," said the Head of Development and Achievement of PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, in an official written statement.

The players who have competed in the SEA Games and several other additions who are in Jakarta, have arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. Meanwhile, the player sent to the Sudirman Cup will arrive in Kuala Lumpur today.

"The condition of the children until last night was all ready and excited. Those who were in Jakarta, especially those from the SEA Games, had already practiced upon their return to the country. A high responsibility made them ready to compete again at the Malaysia Masters," continued Rionny, as quoted from Antara, Monday, March 22.

Rionny also monitors the development of players in Suzhou, China. He said Jonatan Christie cs was also fit and ready to compete.

"After our Sudirman team stopped in the quarter-finals, I advised the coaches there to immediately prepare their players to go to these Malaysia Masters. I saw that their training was consistent both physically, technically, and strengthening," explained Rionny.

Rionny also confirmed that he would again check the readiness of ex-Sudirman athletes upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur.

"The players from Suzhou are just about to arrive and I will see their condition again. So far, everyone is also healthy and ready to compete," said Rionny.

The Malaysia Masters 2023 tournament will take place on May 23-28 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur. The tournament with the level of BWF Super 500 has a total prize of 420,000 United States dollars or more than IDR 6.2 billion.
