Paulus Waterpauw Remains Acting Governor Of West Papua
MANOKWARI - Paulus Waterpauw received a Decree (SK) of President Joko Widodo regarding the extension of his term of office until 2024 through the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
The decree on extension through Presidential Decree 39/P of 2023 was handed over directly by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Friday, May 12.
"Good God gets a decree from the President through the Minister of Home Affairs, this is given a mandate to serve the community and return to running government and state programs, let's build together regions and the people," said Paulus Waterpauw as quoted by ANTARA.
He explained that the handover of the extension decree was handed over in conjunction with the Governor of Banten, where there were five Acting Governors who were sworn in on May 12, 2022.
One of them has entered the retirement period and the other two have not been extended, namely West Sulawesi and Gorontalo.
Paul said that as a State Civil Apparatus (ASN), the trust given by the President is a mandate that must be carried out, because at any time it can be withdrawn, it can also be given.
"Once again, I think all the mechanisms and processes have become the President's decision and we must carry out the decision. I ask for the blessing of all, we collaborate with young people, parents and other communities to jointly build West Papua," said Waterpauw.

Paulus Waterpauw is the Deputy for Border Area Potential Management at the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of the Ministry of Home Affairs since October 2021.
After receiving the Decree on the extension of the term of office, Paulus Waterpauw is scheduled to return to West Papua soon to carry out the regional development program.
In his mandate, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian conveyed that the Acting Governors who were given the mandate could work well. For several extended Acting Governors, he continued, it was based on consideration and evaluation of many things.
"Of course everything is in accordance with statutory regulations," he said.
