3 Flights To Ambon Diverted Due To Bad Weather

Three flights to Ambon Pattimura International Airport, Maluku, have been diverted to the nearest airport due to bad weather since Thursday (11/5) night.

"As of this morning, three flights have not been able to land at Pattimura Airport, due to bad weather in Ambon which has resulted in limited visibility," said Pts Legal, Compliance & Stakeholder Relations Manager of PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I Pattimura Airport Ambon Agni Aditya Akbar as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 12.

The three flights diverted were Lion Air with flight number JT-888 route Makassar - Ambon diverted to Sorong (SOQ), Batik Air ID-6170 route Cengkareng - Ambon diverted to Sorong, and Citilink airline QG 210 route Cengkareng - Ambon, diverted to Makassar.

The impact of flight diversion due to bad weather in Ambon City, until now the passengers with the three routes destination are still waiting at Gate 1 to Gate 4 at Pattimura Airport.

"Passengers are still waiting for three planes to be diverted and have not landed at Pattimura Airport," he said.

According to applicable procedures, if bad weather flights whose positions have approached the airport will be diverted to the nearest airport or if possible, they will wait in the air.

If the weather is still bad, planes from their home areas will wait to be dispatched until conditions improve.

"Currently, the plane being diverted to Sorong is on its way to Pattimura airport," he said.
