Threatening Muhammadiyah Residents, BRIN Researcher Andi Pangerang Arrested By Police
The National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) arrested researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Andi Pangerang Hasanuddin on suspicion of threatening the killing of Muhammadiyah residents.
Director of Cyber Crime (Dirtipidsiber) Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General (Brigjen) Adi Vivid Agustiadi confirmed the arrest.
"It is true that investigators from the Cyber Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police today, Sunday, April 30, 2023, have arrested AP's brother," Adi told reporters on Sunday.
Adi explained that Andi Pangerang was arrested in Jombang, East Java.
"(AP-ed) was arrested in the Jombang area for a case reported by the reporter in this case Muhammadiyah," he concluded.
As a reminder, the alleged defamation case began with Thomas Djamaluddin's upload regarding the difference in the determination of Eid between the government and Muhammadiyah sparked various comments, one of which was AP Hasanuddin's comments that offended Muhammadiyah residents.
Initially, Thomas commented that Muhamamdiyah was no longer obedient to the Government's decision because setting Eid al-Fitr 1444 H was different from the Government's determination.
Thomas' comment was replied by the AP Hasanuddin account with a cynical and threatening tone. Several comments uploaded by AP Hasanuddin regarding the differences were also busy on social media.
"I do not hesitate to silence you Muhammadiyah who are still egocentric. It has been flicked by Mr. Thomas, Mr. Ma'rufin, et al, how come it still doesn't work," wrote the AP Hasanuddin account.
