JAKARTA - The world's largest industrial exhibition Hannover Messe 2023 has officially opened on Monday night April 16 Hannover time. In this year's event, Indonesia again had the opportunity to become an official country partner.
Previously, Indonesia had become a country partner at Hannover Messe 2021: Digital Edition during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Opening Ceremony of the biggest industrial exhibition event was held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 18:00 local time.
President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo together with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz attended the opening ceremony of Hannover Messe 2023 which was held at the Hannover Congress Centrum, Hannover. The inauguration by the two leaders of the country marks the start of the annual exhibition which has been running for more than 74 years.
Indonesia raised the theme Making Indonesia 4.0 in Hannover Messe 2023. The President stated that the theme Making Indonesia 4.0 is very relevant to Indonesia, which is carrying out economic transformation through innovation and technology.
"Currently, Indonesia is implementing two major strategies, namely downstreaming industry and a green economy," said President Joko Widodo.
The downstream industry policy is supported by the availability of abundant natural resources, large demographic bonuses, and a maintained economy. With this capital, Indonesia wants to become a big player in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
Indonesia is very open to investment and cooperation in building downstream industries in Indonesia. Until 2040, there were 21 commodities in the downstream roadmap, projected to reach the investment value of 545.3 billion US dollars," the President said.
In terms of a green economy, Indonesia is strongly committed to maintaining environmental sustainability. It is targeted, by 2023, as much as 23 percent of energy comes from new and renewable energy (EBT), as well as the closure of all coal plants by 2025.
However, Indonesia must ensure that the energy transition can produce affordable energy for the community.
"Of course this requires investment, requires large financing, at least 1 trillion US dollars until 2060. Indonesia invites investors from Germany to develop a green economy. Once again, Indonesia is very open to investment and cooperation," said the President.
In line with what was conveyed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the German Chancellor said that Indonesia would soon become a member of the cooperative climate club' because the target is to carry out full decarbonation in the electricity sector by 2025.
