Jonny Greenwood And Israeli Musician Dudu Tassa Work On Qaribak's New Album Distance
JAKARTA - Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood announced his new album with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa.
Qaribak distance, as the album title reads, will be released on June 9 and opened with the first single titled Ashufak Shay.
Discussing the musical style on this album, Tassa who previously toured Radiohead revealed in an official statement.
"When people listen to this music, I really like to imagine them thinking...what is this? It sounds like the 1970s, but there was a drum machine, there was a guitar but they sang in Arabic... what's going on?" he said.
Meanwhile, Greenwood discussed how the project was compared to the previous collaboration with Israeli singer Shye Ben Tzur.
Qaribak's distance presents a similar set of problems, as you have all the notes that don't match the major/westminor. The pitch ladder, and it has a tone involving a quarter-tone, and it is very difficult to implement chordal order on these melodys," Greenwood explained as quoted by NME.
"It usually makes them faint. It's like reducing resolutions on colored photos to just square."
