American MotoGP Statistics: Owned By Repsol Honda And Marc Marquez

JAKARTA - The 2023 MotoGP race has entered its third series. Riders will pave the way at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, United States, this weekend.

The circuit from 5.513km to 2019 has hosted the American Grand Prix for the seventh time since 2013 before being absent from the calendar in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout history, there have been 34 Grand Prix races taking place in the United States, namely at the Laguna Seca circuit (15), COTA (9), Indianapolis (8), andturbation (2).

Repsol Honda team racer Marc Marquez is still the king of Austin thanks to seven wins at the circuit in the MotoGP class, making Honda the most dominant manufacturer on the circuit.

Marquez also won seven pole positions from nine appearances at COTA, with six of them winning from 2013 to 2018. In 2019, Marquez fell while leading the race and in 2021 he returned to the top podium in Austin.

Alex Rins, at that time in Suzuki uniform, and Enea Bastianini (Ducati) also experienced the top podium in COTA when they won the race in 2019 and 2022, respectively.

Unfortunately, Marquez and Bastianini will miss the American GP race this weekend to focus on injury recovery.

MotoGP statistics note Honda is so dominant by winning 16 of the last 18 races to be held in the US. Since the MotoGP era in 2002, Honda has controlled 19 of the 26 premier class Grand Prix held in the US.

Before Rins (Suzuki/2019) and Bastianini (Ducati/2022), the non-Honda riders who won in America were Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) when the race was held at Laguna Seca (2010).

Meanwhile, Bastianini's 2022 victory from the fifth starting position was Ducati's second celebration on mainland America since Casey Stoner's success at Laguna Seca in 2007.

Meanwhile, Yamaha has never beaten a race in Austin. Their best result is P2 which is presented to four different riders namely Fabio Quartararo (2021), Valentino Rossi (2017, 2019), Maverick Vinales (2018), and Jorge Lorenzo (2016).

Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales will try to finish better than the P10 they recorded at Austin with a Aprilia RS-GP motorbike.

Then the KTM team has never finished better than the P8 at Austin which was presented by Pol Espargaro in 2019.

12 riders have experienced the MotoGP podium at COTA: Marc Marquez (7), Rossi (3), Dani Pedrosa (3), Rins (2), Lorenzo (2), Andrea Dovizioso (2), Andrea Iannone (2), Jack Miller (2), Bastianini (1), Bagnaia (1), Quartararo (1), Vivisales (1).

Three riders on the grid have also taken pole at COTA: Marc Marquez (7, although he started from P4 in 2018 for penalties), Bagnaia (1) and Jorge Martin (1).
