Liverpool Starts To Self-aware, No Longer Chasing Jude Bellinham
JAKARTA - Liverpool have made Jude Bellingham their main target in last summer's transfer market. However, the English Premier League club recently changed its mind.
A number of media say Liverpool are aware that it is difficult to get the Borussia Dortmund player. The club from Merseyside reportedly withdrew from Bellingham's hunt.
The Reds withdrew from the transfer of the England national team player because the price was too expensive, costing more than 100 million, BBC Sport said via Antara.
Apart from pricing, another reason the Red Merseyside club is stepping down from Bellingham's transfer is to allocate a transfer fund this summer to bring in some players rather than focus on buying one player at an expensive price.
Instead, the Reds are now shifting their transfer targets to four Premier League players.
The number of new players being hunted is in response to management after Jurgen Klopp's team slumped this season. The manager has even confirmed that he will refresh the squad by recruiting smartly next season.
"But yes, with smart signings we will increase, sure. That's the plan," Klopp said before the 2-2 match against Arsenal, a few days ago.
After withdrawing from Bellingham's hunt, Liverpool have now reportedly shifted their targets to four Premier League players, including Mason Mount (Chelsea), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Moises Caicedo (Brighton & Hove Albion), and Declan Rice (West Ham United).
Especially Mount, as reported by Liverpool Echo, the Reds will make the Chelsea 25-year-old their main target in the summer transfer.
