21 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine And 1,897 Ecstasy Items Smuggled Through Passenger Ships In Siak Riau
Siak Police, Riau Province arrested a man on a ship with the initials AS (30) who carried 21 packs of suspected 21 kilograms of methamphetamine and two packs of ecstasy pills containing 1,897 pills.
The head of the Siak Police of the Riau Police, AKBP Ronald Sumaja, said that the suspect was detained by the Siak Police and Air Unit personnel starting from public information that there were passengers carrying suspicious items suspected of being narcotics.
"Based on this information, the Siak Police Satpolairud personnel conducted an investigation around the waters of Tanjung Buton, Kampung Mengkapan, Sungai Apit District, especially at Tanjung Buton Port," said Police Chief Ronald, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 11.
He said the Satpolairud personnel checked and investigated Tanjung Buton Port on Thursday (6/4). In this case, check people and goods that board and get off the ship.
After an inspection of the SB Karunia Express passenger's belongings from Tanjung Balai Karimun to Buton, a suspicious object was found. The item was brought by a US passenger who is a resident of Tanjung Balai Karimun.
"He was found carrying and inserting methamphetamine and ecstasy pills in a large gossip bag which was mixed with clothes to trick the officers," explained AKBP Ronald.
He further explained that there were 21 packs of crystal methamphetamine and two packs of ecstasy pills. Based on US information that the narcotics package was brought from Tanjung Balai Karimun to Pekanbaru, precisely at the intercity inter-provincial transportation terminal (AKAP).
"Furthermore, it will be placed somewhere according to orders or controls of the Malaysian network with the initials M which is currently still being investigated," he said.

For his actions, the US will be charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009, concerning Narcotics with the threat of death penalty, life imprisonment and a minimum prison sentence of 6 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years and a maximum fine as stipulated in paragraph (I) plus 1/3.
