Urged By The Needs Of 4 Of Her Children, Mother From Aceh Nekat Smuggles 9.5 Kg Of Marijuana To Lombok
A housewife from Aceh with the initials S alias Yani (37) admitted that she was desperate to smuggle 9.5 kilograms of marijuana packaged in two jerry cans of salted soy sauce to Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, for the living expenses of her children."I have four children that I have to pay for, sir, that's why I was forced to accept an offer (smuggling 9.5 kilograms of marijuana) because the promise was given Rp. 20 million after the customer received the goods," said Yani in response to a question from the NTB Police Chief Inspector General Djoko Poerwanto at a press conference in Mataram, Antara, Wednesday, April 5.Yani also admitted that she had received Rp4 million in travel money. Yani said that this was the first time she had carried out drug smuggling."I brought this item directly from Aceh. I took the bus. I got on the bus. I took the bus for a total of seven days on the way here. This is the first time I've been like this," he said.Yani was arrested by the police on Monday, April 3 at around 17.00 WITA upon arrival at Lembar Harbor, West Lombok Regency. His action carrying two jerry cans of salted soy sauce containing 9.5 kilograms of marijuana was revealed in the joint operation of the NTB Police and West Lombok Police in the Lembar Harbor area.The Director of Drug Investigation at the NTB Police, Kombes Deddy Supriadi, explained that the arrest of the results of the joint operation was a follow-up to information that a large amount of marijuana packages came from Sumatra.After the arrest, Yani was revealed to have played a role as a courier who received an order to make transactions with someone on Lombok Island."The perpetrator admitted that he did not know who he would make the transaction with because the suspect was controlled from Sumatra," he said.Deddy stated that his party was still developing the case by tracing the role of the messenger who was suspected of originating from Aceh.
Yani has been named a suspect under the suspicion of Article 111 paragraph (2) and/or Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
