April 19-21, It Is Estimated That The Police Will Become The Peak Of The 2023 Eid Homecoming Flow
JAKARTA - The National Police predicts that the peak of the Lebaran 2023 homecoming flow will occur from 19-21 April 2023. Anticipating congestion leads to traffic jams, a number of strategies including one way have been prepared by the police.
"We, the police, will implement a one way system on April 18 starting from KM 72 to KM 414 because the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on D-2 and D-1 Lebaran," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol Sandi Nugroho in his statement, Sunday, March 2, quoted by Antara.
Sandi explained that the National Police together with the Ministry of Transportation and toll road managers had surveyed the traffic flow situation during Eid 2023 homecoming and backflow.
The National Police together with relevant stakeholders divided the backflow into two periods, namely the first period 24-25 April 2023, and the second period from 29 April-1 May 2023.
"Facing backflow will also apply a one way system, starting from KM 414 to KM 72," he said.
The two-star general said that the police had determined several crucial points that could potentially be problematic during the Lebaran 2023 homecoming spike, including the Trans Java toll road, the toll road to Central Java, where the Cipali toll road is a crucial point, both homecoming and backflow.
Then in the rest areas of Sumatra and Java. And for the Sumatra route, according to Sandi, it is in Indralaya-Palembang, while the rest area of the Java route is on the Cipali Toll Road.
"Meanwhile, at Merak Port from last year's experience, there was a density of Eid transportation," he said.

Apart from the Java and Sumatra toll roads, Sandi said, other crucial points that are of concern to the National Police are arterial routes in Java. Then, the main routes used by two-wheelers and four-wheel alternatives also have the potential for congestion. This can occur in accidents and disturbances in security and social order.
Meanwhile, tourist sites also during Eid al-Fitr 2023 are also expected to see a surge in visitors.
"If there is traffic jams, we will unravel congestion by engineering traffic, namely contraflow, one way and also odd-even," he explained.
The 1995 Adhi Makayasa winner added, for the smooth flow of homecoming and backflow on Lebaran this year, the National Police held Operation Ketupat 2023, by deploying 148,211 Polri personnel.
The involvement of these forces, both from the National Police Headquarters as many as 1,240 personnel, Polda 91,153 personnel and related agencies as many as 55,818 personnel.
