TNI Commander Departs 555 Soldiers In Central Kalimantan To Papua, Becomes PT Freeport Security Task Force
TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono dispatched 555 selected soldiers in Central Kalimantan Province (Kalteng) to Papua.
The soldiers who are dispatched will be part of the Pam Obvitnas Operations Task Force PT Freeport Indonesia.
"Today I deliberately appeared in the midst of the elected TNI soldiers who will carry out security operations in Papua. I want to see and directly check your readiness," he said at the Yonif 631/Antang of Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan, Thursday, March 30, which was confiscated by Antara.
PT. Freeport Indonesia has been designated as a vital national object that must be protected. This company has strategic value because it involves the livelihoods of many people and is a source of state revenue.
Since 2018, the Indonesian government has officially become the largest shareholder. This ownership provides a big advantage for the income of the state treasury and also for the Papuan people.
Although currently Papua's conditions are generally relatively conducive, in some areas there are still security disturbances from armed groups, including the areas of operation that will be occupied later.
"Therefore, the TNI must be present to assist the government, in efforts to accelerate welfare development in the PAPUA region," he said.

"The time of assignment for nine months is not a light responsibility. The dynamics and threats in the area of operation require continuous preparedness. I am very confident and believe that all of you are able to answer this great trust and trust well," he said.
As for some of the emphasis of the TNI Commander on the apra soldiers who were dispatched, including maintaining and increasing faith and piety so that every step on the field of assignment is always under the protection of the Almighty God.
"Then understand about the absence of 100 percent safe operating areas. You must fight armed disturbances with weapons," he said.
For this reason, he asked soldiers to always hone their combat instincts and maintain preparedness and vigilance at all times. Never be caught off guard at all times, especially when carrying out binter activities, there must still be a security element on standby at all times.
