Happy Ramadan 1444 H To Muslims, US President Joe Biden Brings Ethnic Uighurs And Rohingya
JAKARTA - The President of the United States, Joe Biden, congratulated the fasting during Ramadan 1444 H to all Muslims in the world, especially US citizens.
In a statement, Biden emphasized United States support for the Muslim community.
He also said the US would continue to stand with the Turkish and Syrian people, who have lost a lot of population due to the recent devastating earthquake.
The US, continued Biden, is also with the Pakistani people who are rebuilding their lives after last summer's floods.
"In the holy month to reflect on this, the United States also reaffirmed our support for the Muslim community suffering from difficulties and destruction," Biden said in a statement released by the US Embassy in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 23.
The month of Ramadan, said Biden, is also a reminder of respect for human rights and the importance of practicing, praying, and broadcasting religious beliefs peacefully and openly.
"And together with our partners, the United States stands in solidarity with Muslims who continue to face oppression, including ethnic Uighurs in China, Rohingya in Myanmar, and other Muslim communities facing persecution around the world," he said.
Furthermore, he paid tribute to the Muslim community which has been part of the history since the founding of the US, ranging from science and technology, arts and academics, law and medicine, to business and government.
He said American Muslims continue to strengthen the nation's diversity from generation to generation, and hopes that US residents with cross cultures and beliefs can commit to creating a nation that is more equal, fairer, more tolerant, and more loving.
"To my American colleagues who run Ramadan, and to Muslims around the world: good luck fasting, may your Ramadan be full of blessings and peace," said Biden.
